Bring on the Bubble Wrap

I'm back, for today anyway.  Honestly, it is not for lack of intent that I haven't been writing.  Each day I think, "I've got to do a post today", and then life kicks in and before I know it another day has gone and in the blink of an eye 60 days have gone by without a post.  I'm sure I have exactly zero readers left, but what the hey, I'm back anyway.

So...on to the bubble wrap.

It started out innocently enough, a nice nighttime swim after wonderful picnic on the beach to cap off our equally wonderful vacation.  I knew better, I should have worn goggles, but I was already in the water and didn't want to get out, blah, blah, blah.  Suffice it to say that although my eyes were open, my depth perception was off and I ran my head right into the side of the pool giving myself a lovely scraped forehead and nose to take home with me as a souvenir.

All was quiet for about a week.  Then came the phone call..."your son got hurt, it is not too bad, but you need to come get him"...from our neighbor.  Jump in the car to go get him.  Turns out he was roller blading on the neighbors patio, hit a slightly raised paver brick, tripped, fell and hit his head on a flower pot.  Off the urgent care center for four stitches in much the same place on his forehead as my scrape.  He DID NOT want stitches, but he was a trooper and bravely let the very nice doctor patch him up.

The very next day...I was doing a large amount of cleaning and organizing around the house.  Some of the organizing I wanted to accomplish involved storing some things in the garage.  Our garage, however, was in a little bit of disarray as we had just had the garage floor painted and sealed.  Therefore, the cabinet that I wanted to store some things in, had a small motorcycle trailer leaning against it, and I couldn't get to the cabinet without moving it.  Being the infinitely patient person that I am, I decided I couldn't possibly wait for my husband to get home, and that my son and I could surely move the trailer the few feet it needed to be moved.  How heavy could it really be right?  Turns out it was VERY heavy ...several hundred pounds if it was an ounce...and it dropped on my feet.  One foot got out relatively unscathed, the other foot not so much.  It grew at an alarming rate.  It truly looked like somehow an egg had gotten stuck under my skin.  Nice.  Shoes were not my friend for quite some time.

My scrape has healed, my son's stitches are out, and I was able to wear gym shoes and actually go for a run this weekend, and the rainbow of green, black, purple, and blue has started to fade to just kind of a muddy brown on my foot.  Whew glad that is all over with.

Now we are on to tackle football season, and, yes, my son is playing.  He LOVES it, but do you think he would mind very much if I wrapped just a small amount of bubble wrap over his pads?  You can see why I might think this a very good idea given our track record of late.

The theme couldn't have been more fitting since the party took place at an indoor soccer field. Having it at the field was perfect. The kids stayed busy for the whole 2 hours and decorations and food were limited - cupcake stand with cupcakes and toppers, favor bags and balladsfoons. Plus, if you plan to host something similar, be sure to have plenty of water and Gatorade as the hard playing kids will be needing it!
